I am committed to protect your privacy and the trust that you put on me.

This privacy and data retention policy statement explains how I, Patrizia Jones, will use and protect any information that you give me when you use my professional services. This policy is effective from the 7th of August 2024.

Phone numbers: I retain your phone numbers on my phone for contact concerning appointments and information. I will retain your phone number for up to six months after our working agreement ends unless we agree otherwise.

Email details: I will delete any emails on a regular basis. Or at the end of our working relationship as appropriate. If there has been other material exchanged by email, you can advise me, or we can decide together what to do with this.

I use social media to share information about mental health and wellbeing. Please note if you are a client, I will not engage in conversations with you on social media. This is to protect your privacy as well as our therapeutic work.

Client or supervision, records and notes: You have the right to see any information I hold about you. You can ask me to change any information that I hold about you that is incorrect. You also have the right to ask me to delete any information that I hold about you, except that which I have a legal or professional obligation to keep, for example, for tax purposes and for professional insurance requirements for my practice. Personal information held is stored securely and will be shredded five years after our last appointment in compliance with BACP directives.

I do not record our sessions unless agreed and I ask you to do the same.

I use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates to verify our identity to your browser and to encrypt any data you give us.
Whenever information is transferred between us, you can check that it is done so using SSL by looking for a closed padlock symbol or other trust mark in your browser’s URL bar or toolbar.

Online Counselling: I use platforms that have a high level of security (data is encypted in transit and at rest).

If you are not happy with my privacy policy or if you have any complaint, I sincerely hope that you would feel comfortable to discuss this with me so that I can correct any error.
In alternative, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). This can be done at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
