Counselling and therapy
Therapy provides a safe and private space to explore what matters to you. My role is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you with support and guidance, trusting in the strengths and insight you already carry within yourself. Together we create space for emotional healing, greater clarity, and a deeper sense of self-connection and self-compassion.
First session: what to expect
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. I may ask a few questions to better understand your current situation, and you are welcome to ask questions too. You can share whatever feels comfortable, and there is no pressure to continue unless it feels like the right fit for you.
Confidentiality
Any information shared is confidential except in certain circumstances, for example when you or others are at serious risk of being harmed and when is required by the law.
If this situation arises, I will make every possible effort to discuss my concerns with you first.
Supervision is an ethical requirement. In discussing my work with my clinical supervisor anonymity is maintained.
Fees
Sessions are £65 for 50 minutes. To confirm each appointment, payment is required at the time of booking, or at least 48 hours before the session.
I review my fees annually and will provide at least 12 weeks’ notice of any changes.
Frequency
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly, same week day and time, or one off sessions, depending on your needs. Both therapist and client are expected to arrive on time. If you arrive late we will finish at the arranged time. I will send you a confirmation of our next appointment after each session. Please let me know if you prefer to opt-out.
Records
Notes are kept in a locked cupboard. Digital records are password-protected. I follow the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Information Commissioner Officer (ICO) guidelines.
I do not record our sessions unless agreed and kindly ask clients to do the same.
Before sessions
Please refrain from using alcohol or non-prescribed substances immediately before sessions, as this may affect your ability to participate meaningfully in therapy.
Cancellations
I will let you know in advance of any planned absences, and I would appreciate you doing the same.
For cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, the full fee will apply. When cancelling with at least 48 hours notice, we can agree to refund or reschedule, depending on your preference and my availability.
Complaints
If you have any complaints, I sincerely hope that we can discuss these together, or you can contact the professional body I belong to for advice: www.bacp.co.uk.
Contact between sessions
Basic queries are welcome via email but other concerns are best explored during therapy sessions. If you ever find yourself in crisis or feeling unsafe, please seek immediate support by calling 999 (or your local equivalent). I am not able to provide emergency assistance outside our sessions, but you can find supportive resources on my website.
Ending therapy
We can agree to end our work together whenever it is the right time for you. If possible, we may use a final session to reflect on the work we have done and bring our sessions to a thoughtful close.
Therapy works best with regular attendance. If sessions are frequently cancelled or missed, we may need to review our working agreement.
refund policy for online programs
If you are not happy with a course you have purchased please let me know within 14 days from the purchase day. Get in touch by using the contact form so that I can arrange a refund.
